Electric Motors

Our electric motors achieve best-in-class efficiency either over legislative driving cycles or over performance cycles (race track, repeated accelerations) depending on the design and are developed to sustain speeds up to 25,000 rpm. Thanks to our well established supply-chain, we are able to deliver functional tailor-made prototypes within very short deadlines. We own proprietary technology and manufacturing techniques on the stator, rotor and cooling system that allow us to achieve outstanding performance figures both on road and on track, from 48V to 800V systems.

Inverters

The inverters we develop are finely tuned to obtain the best out of our motors. Innovative soft-switching techniques and dynamic modulation strategies over the torque-speed region enable us to guarantee system-level performance under any driving conditions. Our power stages can be adapted to support 80V MOSFET, 650V IGBT, 1200V IGBT and 1200V SiC switching devices.

Testing

Our unit at Bicester Heritage accommodates all our test facilities. We are currently building up following test capability for motor & inverter design validation:

  • PTCE (Power Thermal Cycle Endurance)
  • HTOE (High Temperature Operating Endurance)
  • Component characterisation and performance testing
    • Peak performance
    • Continuous performance
    • Motor / inverter / system efficiency
    • Cooling system characterisation
    • Motor characterisation tests
      • Back-EMF
      • Transient active short-circuit
      • Continuous short-circuit
    • Motor-inverter calibration
  • Thermal shock (air-to-air, with flowing currents)
  • Rotor overspeed
  • Rotor burst speed
  • Cold and hot storage
