The team at HiSpeed Ltd. is proud to announce that we’ve been awarded DRIVE35 funding by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), delivered through the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC), for Project Volante: our modular electric drive unit platform combining our compact closed-slot continuous wave winding motor technology with our highly-efficient traction inverters. 

We’ll be partnering with the fantastic team at Electrogenic, and the project sits at the heart of what we do best: bringing together our advanced products using a competitive supply chain with UK-based assembly, testing, and certification to deliver agile and cost-effective powertrain solutions.

£29 million investment in fast-start demonstrators

Over these past 30 months, it has been a privilege for MTI/HiSpeed Ltd. engineers to work alongside our NIO colleagues in developing and industrialising HiSpeed Ltd.’s patented Closed Slot Continuous Winding (CSCW) motor technology – from initial concept to high-volume production in Ganzhou, China.

China’s commitment to electric vehicles uptake is fast and relentless and operating within this environment was exciting and often educational.

We remain focussed on a successful launch, wishing NIO huge success with ONVO L60, while looking ahead to further breakthroughs in this technology.

HiSpeed Ltd. are pleased to announce that the high-volume closed slot continuous wave manufacturing line developed together with Mavel China is ready to be shipped to it’s final destination. Full automation and record-breaking takt times will allow us to ramp up production to 200,000 electric motors per annum with our proprietary winding technology. Cutting-edge machinery for best-in-class electric motor performance density. A very special thanks to our engineering team and automation partners involved for the hard work, passion and dedication in delivering this project.

Our in-house developed continuous wave winding technology for high-volume 800V automotive applications is reaching a major project milestone! 500 units will be delivered in the next weeks from the semi-automated manufacturing line to undergo an extensive durability test campaign. Developed together with our partners at Mavel China, the final stator and rotor manufacturing lines will allow full assembly automation at an initial rate of 200,000 units per annum for a major customer and premium automotive OEM. Our motor can deliver over 300kW of power up to speeds of 18,000 rpm.
